Expertise	Founded Lion Bridge Ventures and Jatropha Africa in 2006 to cultivate Jatropha on a large scale. As Managing Director has led the raising of start up funds, the appointment of a Ghana Operations Director, the securing of land leases in Ghana, the establishment of plant nurseries and a 100 Ha pilot scale Jatropha Farm.
Experience	First career: designer and project manager in the construction industry, with experience of managing multi-million pound projects in the UK, Germany (as NATO Major) and the Falkland Islands. Led the Business team of the Innovation Unit of the Department of Trade and Industry for 4 years: briefings to ministers on innovation and business improvement; project management of DTI events. Assistant Director at the Engineering Council during the 1990’s: :: responsibility for its Business Members programme :: led the DTI-funded 1999 E-Business Technology Mission to the US, with keynote address from Lord Sainsbury. Participants included Anglian Water, British Nuclear Fuels, Hammonds law firm, Cranfield University and the CBI. US host companies included Ford Motor Company, Bechtel Group, Lucent, National Institute for Standards and Technology. :: founded the Direct Writing Association to promote advanced manufacturing technologies at 20 companies and 4 universities. Since 2002 has developed and delivered innovation and business development projects for the London Development Agency, Imperial College, London Metropolitan University, helping companies in sectors including biofuels, product design, event management and publishing with grant funding applications (6 successfully). MBA with distinction in Finance from the Open University, one of the UK’s top-ten business schools. Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, University of Glasgow.
